Custom Orthotics and Insoles

Quite often people underestimate the importance of proper foot function on their overall well-being. What may seem to be a small discomfort in your feet may lead to improper posture, add pressure on joints and result in serious problems. Our team of certified experts strives to educate and inform clients on the best approach for treating musculoskeletal conditions. We offer a variety of services and products, including custom orthotics, to help you relieve pain and discomfort due to biomechanics dysfunctions and assist with recovery.

Custom orthotics (also referred to as prescription orthotics) look like insoles, individually custom-molded for each foot to ensure perfect fit and promote healthy foot function. Custom orthotics can be made to fit flats, running shoes and even high heels; they are designed to help restore balance and alignment in your body by addressing the root cause of your discomfort.

By gently correcting foot abnormalities, custom orthotics help reduce problems associated with pressure points, muscle strain and discomfort in the ankles, knees, hips and spine.

At HealthMax Physiotherapy Clinic – Toronto (St Clair) branch, we use the TOG GaitScan – a sophisticated gait analysis system, which allows the practitioner to accurately analyze patient’s foot function in addition to the biomechanical assessment. This digital system records your gait as you walk across the pressure plate. These measurements are processed in a 3D computer model that provides a clear picture of patient’s foot mechanics and assists with choosing custom-fit inserts.

Depending on your diagnosis, our therapists will recommend the perfect match for your needs. Our custom-fitted foot orthotics include:

  • Arch support (designed to support different types of feet, with low, high or flat arches);
  • Insoles (usually made of gel, foam and plastic; offer comfort and provide the foot with good support);
  • Heel liners (provide extra cushioning for the heel; useful for patients who have foot pain linked to age-related thinning of the bones);
  • Foot cushions (used as a barrier friction between your foot and your shoes).
